Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters. Here's exactly how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Last updated:

1. Overview

1099 Finder ("we", "us", or "our") operates 1099finder.com (the "Platform"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit or use our Platform. By using the Platform, you consent to the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly, including: name, email address, phone number, city and state, role (contractor or business), trade or business type, profile bio, and license number and issuing state (contractors only, self-reported). We also collect information automatically when you use the Platform, such as IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and referring URLs. We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to maintain sessions and improve your experience.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to: create and manage your account; display your profile in the contractor directory; match contractors with job opportunities; process subscription payments through Stripe; send transactional emails such as password resets and application notifications; respond to your inquiries; improve the Platform; and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Information Sharing

We may share your information with: businesses or contractors you connect with through the Platform (limited to what is displayed on your public profile); Stripe for payment processing; email service providers for transactional communications; and law enforcement or government authorities when required by law. We require all third-party service providers to maintain appropriate security standards and to use your information only as directed by us.

5. Public Profile Information

Contractor profiles — including name, trade, location, bio, and license information (if provided) — are visible to all visitors of the Platform, including non-registered users. Businesses should be aware that job postings are similarly visible. You are responsible for the information you choose to include in your public profile. Do not include sensitive personal information such as your full address, Social Security number, or financial account details in your profile.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal information from active databases within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as fraud prevention or dispute resolution.

7. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information, including encrypted password storage, HTTPS transmission, and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security and encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your account.

8. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain your login session, remember your preferences, and analyze Platform usage. You can control cookie settings through your browser. Disabling cookies may affect the functionality of certain features, including the ability to stay logged in.

9. Children's Privacy

The Platform is not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we become aware that a minor has provided us with personal information, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a minor has submitted information to us, please contact us at [email protected].

10. Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you. You may update most of your information directly through your dashboard profile page. To request deletion of your account or data, or to exercise any other privacy rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond to verified requests within 30 days.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, by email. Your continued use of the Platform after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy.

13. Contact Us

If you have questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy or our data practices, please contact us at [email protected]. We are committed to resolving privacy concerns promptly and transparently.
